I don’t know where I would wear this…

I don’t know where I would wear this, but I think it looks cool. Even though I have the sniffles, I sort of felt rocker chic today.

I guess you can call it Winter in Florida.

The weather in Florida can get really funny sometimes. Within one day the weather can change from a cold hard freeze to a hot summer’s breeze. I definitely had my share of times where I bundled up for the morning chill only to end up burning up in the afternoon heat.

When I know that I am in for one of those funky weather days, I try to avoid wearing heavy clothing underneath my jackets. I try to keep it light and simple like the shirt seen in the photos.

Yeeeeaaaa, done with pictures!!!

Payless Shoes, Express tights, Jcpenney’s shirt, shorts, and scarf.

If you live in an area like mine, the best thing you can do is switch between light and heavy clothing when layering your outfits. It gives you room to strip down into something more comfortable when the temperatures start to rise.

Thanks for reading.

Follow Fashion trends with caution.

I was having a conversation with a friend of mine the other day, and she mentioned that she had a couple of pairs of brightly colored skinny jeans that she did not plan on wearing anymore.  I told her that I understood where she was coming from because if I were to see her in brightly colored skinny jeans this fall, then she would get the complete side eye from me (80% joking, 20% serious). She asked where she could wear these pants again and I told her at a 90’s party, maybe.  *Kanye shrugs *

This conversation is the foundation for today’s post. When it comes to trends I am extremely cautious about what I purchase from the store. I must admit the colorful skinny jean trend was cute, and I have seen some girls, and guys, pull this look off wonderfully. However, I knew that I was not in love with colorful skinny jeans, and if I were to purchase a pair I would only wear the jeans for this summer. Knowing this about myself, I decided to not partake in the colorful skinny jean trend.

When it comes to being a savvy consumer, you have to take the time to evaluate your personal taste.  Before you purchase the next latest trend take the time to think about whether or not you are going to wear this item next year or not. If you will, then buy it. If you will not, then bypass, or purchase that item for really, really, cheap.  I already know that I am going to be buying up high waisted jeans and shorts because I love that trend.  It is so 70’s chic and anything that can prevent muffin top is an ok with me, in addtion, I know that high waisted pants will be hard to come by once this trend fades.

Just because something is the latest trend that does not mean that you have to fill up your entire closet with that trend. Buy a few items and save your money on items that you are in love with because lets be honest, unless you are in the fashion industry, no one really cares about whether or not you are following the latest trends. Heck, majority of society are not even aware of what the latest trends are, so be you.

Sales, Clearance, Off-price retailers Oh My!

The only thing better then buying something on sale is buying something on clearance with an additional in store sales promotion. Department stores are basically giving clothes away and people are not paying attention. The clearance rack IS your best friend when it comes to shopping. I found a pair of Vigoss Jeans for $4.97 in a department store. Let me repeat that, “I found a pair of Vigoss Jeans for $4.97 in a department store.” What is so great about Vigoss jeans? Well it is pretty simple, Vigoss jeans fit my curves: Ok, they have not hit the mark exactly but they are really, really close and I can appreciate a good pair of jeans that come close to fitting my curves. Enough about the jeans, lets talk about the prices because there were other jeans from various brands in the store that were on clearance from anywhere from $13.30- $3.97. Now, I must admit that shopping through the clearance section of a department store can be frustrating, however, it is so worth the time and effort once you have found something, in your size, and only for a few dollars; in addition, thhe store is having an in-store promotion: they are offering $10 off any purchase over $30. Oh the savings, savings, savings.  The best way that you can stay on top of the savings is by signing up for your favorite store email list. You will be surprised on the number of sales stores have in one given month.

Off-price retailers are stores like Ross, TJ Maxx and DSW. These stores are my new best friends. You can buy high-end clothes and shoes at cheap prices. I found a pair of purple Steve Madden shoes for $20 in an off-price retailer. If you are low on funds, but still want to look like a million dollars I highly recommend shopping at off-price retail stores. Who else is going to know besides you?

Do you like shopping at off-price retailers? What was one of your greatest finds in a department store clearance section, or an off-price retailer?
